Press Trips
As a freelance writer and as a member of the Travel Media Association of Canada, I travel on group and individual press trips to research locations for travel and other kinds of articles for magazines and websites. Below are some samples of the results. All the photos below are mine.
Miami
July 2011, a press trip to Miami was surprisingly comfortable because during this, the rainy season, there's good cloud cover, keeping things on the cool side for the subtripics. Still, the ocean is so warm and the nightlife so vibrant, it's just a load of fun.

Ottawa
This March 2011 trip was a load of fun and a ton of astonishingly good eating. Savour Ottawa is an organization working to bring farmers and chefs closer together while bringing people closer to their food. Highly recommended are Mariposa Farm for the famous (and only meal of the week) Sunday lunch. And at the Urban Element, you can work under the chefs as together you create your own meal.
Spain
July 2010 trip to Catalonia, the northeastern corner of Spain including Barcelona and the Costa Brava. The unique architecture of one of the world's truly original designers, Anton Gaudi, will astound.

Yorkshire
March 2010 trip to York and surrounding countryside and towns like Whitby. I highly recommend the famous fish and chips there. Walk off the calories on a climb up the 99 steps to the ruined abbey above.

Florida
Out of a family trip to Florida in 2008 came some great memories, some good articles and an introduction to the best island in Florida -- Sanibel. See below for an article about what it's like to retire in Florida.
